Meet The Staff
Tom Esposito
Owner and ASE Certified Master MechanicTom secured his first job at a repair shop in 1981, beginning humbly as a mechanic’s helper. During his time there, he was fortunate to be able to work alongside a master mechanic who provided valuable mentorship that he would carry with him as his experience increased. In his first four years, Tom began to manage the shop as the owner focused on expanding into a second location. He continued to work in repair shops and a dealership, logging hours of technical training and soaking up every bit of knowledge that he could from other experienced mechanics. After landing a management position with a large automotive repair franchise, Tom moved his way up to become the operations manager of three locations, overseeing the day to day activities. After ten years, the franchise owners decided to sell the shops in 1996, and Tom was ready to branch out on his own. He had received hundreds of hours of training in both automotive service and management and was poised and ready to use his experience to help the people of West Islip, New York, with their car repair and maintenance needs. Tom is proud to call West Islip home and is thrilled to be able to help others with his passion.
Greg Miano
Manager and ASE Certified MechanicBorn and raised in West Islip, NY, Greg joined the Automotive Technology of West Islip team in April 2000. He attended the Denver Automotive School for two years to gain his experience and manages the team as an ASE Certified mechanic. Throughout his time as a mechanic, Greg has completed various additional training programs and also holds a New York State inspection license. He is always up for a challenge and loves being able to solve the more complex automotive problems when other shops are unable to. Honest and dependable, Greg has showcased his passion and strong work ethic in many ways while being an integral part of our team – in fact, he hasn’t even taken a single sick day since he started with us! Outside of the shop, Greg enjoys spending his time fishing and running and has completed numerous obstacle courses
Joe
MechanicBorn in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, NY. Graduated from New York Automotive and Diesel Institute. Joe came to work for us after working at a few shops in the Queens area where he felt unchallenged and wanted to learn more in the way of diagnostics and other aspects of the industry. Joe also has a background in graphic design and computer programming and still enjoys those as hobbies.
Walter
MechanicWalter came to us after spending a few years as a fleet mechanic for a major area taxi service. We were happy to find that he was able to transition to the independent shop where we work on all makes and models and not just taxi cabs. Walter has a large family and spends most of his time being a dad. He is at heart a car guy with a few projects going, but of course Dad Duty comes first!
